11. Lessons in Leadership, Mentorship, and Personal Growth from Dr. Christina Moore

In this interview episode of The Evolved Vets Podcast, we welcome Dr. Christina Moore, a seasoned veterinarian, mentor, and leader who believes in helping vets create lives that feel as good as they look on paper.

Christina shares her journey from Texas A&M vet school to her current role as Vice President of Clinical Experience at IndeVets, where she supports hundreds of veterinarians through mentorship, coaching, and community. Along the way, she built industry-first mentorship programs and dedicated her career to helping new vets build confidence and resilience.

We also take a peek into Christina’s personal morning routine, inspired by The Miracle Morning. She starts her day at 4 AM with hydration, journaling, prayer, fitness, and gratitude. This practice helps her stay grounded and intentional before the pace of family life and career takes over.

Throughout this conversation, Christina opens up about mental health, work-life balance, and the importance of leaders supporting growth. She reminds us that it is okay to ask for help and that small daily practices can create a powerful ripple effect in both personal and professional life.

About Dr. Christina Moore

Dr. Christina Moore graduated from Texas A&M University in 2012 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Business Administration degrees. After graduation, she moved to New York City for a 1-year small animal rotating surgery and medicine internship. Then she joined a small animal private practice in Doylestown, PA.

After practicing for a few years, she found herself itching to utilize her MBA to support veterinarians in practice. She joined VCA as a veterinarian recruiter, hiring vets for over 100 practices in the northeast. She noticed that practices who needed a veterinarian could not usually support a new graduate with mentorship and practices who could mentor, did not need veterinarians. This became the catalyst for the very first nationwide new graduate veterinarian mentorship program. She was then recruited to a veterinary company based out of Austin, TX that was very small, but had plans to grow quickly. She spent 7 years there, growing the recruiting department from 2 people in 2016 to over 30 in 2023, developing a new graduate mentorship program that included virtual support and online learning, which became critical during the pandemic, and establishing a university relations program to connect with all of the AVMA accredited veterinary schools and provide resources and career options for veterinary students.

Toward the end of 2023, Christina joined IndeVets as a Senior Director of Clinical Excellence. In her role, she and her team supported half of the 250 IndeVets across 33 states with coaching and development, leadership training, and day-to-day support in hospital relationships and medical case management. She is credited with building the first ever rotating general practice mentorship program for new and recent veterinary graduates. In this program, veterinarians are paired with 2-3 mentors, working side-by-side in a variety of clinical settings. They also receive weekly mentorship and support from our clinical leadership team and our veterinary social worker and they complete over 25 hours of RACE approved training in GP medicine, fear free handling, and burnout prevention and recovery. Christina still practices regularly and is now Vice President of Clinical Experience at IndeVets.
